FAQs

Here are some of the things we are frequently asked about our holiday lodges and log cabins.

If there is anything not covered here please contact us with any questions or if you require any additional information.

Are the holiday lodges and log cabins open throughout the year ?

The season runs from March 1st until January 14th. We regret we cannot therefore offer stays from January 15th until March 1st.

Where are the lodges located ?

Either at Limefitt Park (3 miles from Windermere, 6 from Ambleside) or White Cross Bay (2 miles from Windermere, 2 from Ambleside). Both parks are close and convenient to the many attractions and things to do in Windermere, Ambleside & Bowness. We will provide full directions including sat-nav input in your arrival pack.

How do we get into the lodges ?

All lodges are self entry and we will provide a code to the key safe so you can let yourself in on arrival.

What does the price include ?

The prices quoted covers the complete rental charge regardless of number of occupants up to the lodge capacity (see individual lodge pages). It includes all bedding, bed linen and towels (one bath and hand towel per person per stay) and gas and electricity used during your stay. Thee will also be a tea towel and hand towel for the kitchen

Your stay is self-catering and we will also provide one fresh toilet roll (per toilet), hand soap per sink (either hand pump or sealed hotel style packet) an oven glove, washing up cloth, scourer and washing up liquid (and dishwasher tablets if applicable). These MAY NOT be sufficient for the duration of your stay depending on the number of people staying.

How much do we have to pay for utilities?

All gas and electicity is included in your price (see above).

What deposit is required ?

£100 - with the balance due 8 weeks before arrival date.

How do we book ?

Once you have decided which lodge you wish to stay in you can book immediately online via our secure booking system. Simply follow the 'book now' links on the individual lodge booking pages. We strongly recommend this way of booking due to the popularity of the lodges especailly during peak holiday times. Alternatively call us during our office hours (10am to 7pm seven days a week)

How do we pay for the deposit/balance ?

We recommend paying securely online and we will provide a link if preferred. There is no cost for debit card transactions but we do have to pass on the 2% credit card handling charge imposed by our card services provider. We can also accept bank transfers but no cheques.

Do you charge a security/damage deposit ?

No. However, we reserve the right to charge an amount to put right any damage/pet damage/excess cleaning under advice after your stay if it is necessary. All damages should be reported immediately.

Do you accept pets ?

Yes but dogs only at our dog friendly lodges. Maximum 2 dogs at £10 per dog per stay. No other pets will be accepted.

Are there any leisure facilities ?

Yes all guests can use the pool, gym and facilities at White Cross Bay  (on site for White Cross Bay lodges or 3 miles from Limefitt Park). The leisure passes can be purchased locally for the duration of your stay from White Cross Bay reception on production of your booking confirmation. 2012 prices are £10 per adult, £5 per child under 16 and FREE for under 5's.

Can we make a last minute booking?

Yes where we have availability, a booking can be processed providing you have email access. You can book up to 2pm on the day of arrival. However, our reputation for high quality often results in us being booked well in advance and we would always recommend that you book early particularly if you wish to stay during the peak holiday periods.

What is your arrival day ?

Our arrivals day are Friday or Monday. Flexible arrival days are available at Shalom Lodge only. Arrivals/departures outside of these days may be possible but only within 2 weeks of the stay.

At what times can we arrive and depart?

The lodges will normally be available to occupy from 4pm on arrival day (Friday/Monday). Departure time is 10am to allow housekeepers to prepare the lodges for the guests following your stay.

Is smoking permitted ?

No. All our lodges are designated strictly no smoking.

Can a stag party or single sex group stay?

Bookings are only accepted from families or couples (with or without children). Park rules forbid us from accepting single sex groups under 25 although those over this age will be considered.

We are visiting the Lake District for the first time can you recommend things to do ?

See our things to see and do pages which we have put together following recommendations from owners and guests alike. All our lodges have plenty of information to help you decide what to do.

Is there wi-fi or internet connection available?

Both Limefitt & White Cross Bay have a free wi-fi connection (following registration). From our experience it can be unreliable due to the terrain, weather conditions and number of people using it. It is usually only good for basic surfing and emails. There is a broadband line providing unlimited and speedy access at Waterside LodgeRamblers Rest and Rowan Lodge free of charge. There is also a fixed line broadband connection in the Haybarn Pub (charges payable)

Will my mobile phone work?

At Limefitt the only reliable connection is through Vodafone. It is virtually impossible to get a signal with any other network. We recommend guests consider getting a pay-as-you-go Vodafone SIM if staying at Limefitt.

At White Cross Bay most networks do work but again Vodafone appears to be the most reliable.

What will the weather be like?

Because the Lakes is very mountainous there is a good chance it will rain - sometimes very heavily! We recommend you go fully prepared for all seasons at whatever time of year you visit. Keeping close attention to the weather forecast is particularly important if you are going out onto the fells. It is worth checking Lake District Weatherline regularly for the latest forecast.
