Alternatively, our gardens offer a chance to be at one with nature, have a gentle stroll and a view, and generally enjoy that wonderful feeling of being outside.<\/p>\n<p><em>Here&#8217;s what we have so far on dates for some of the bigger events, but also some ideas of places to go and enjoy the great outdoors.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Things to Do in the Lakes in 2021 in the great outdoors<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Brockhole Visitor Centre<\/strong> &#8211; right by Lake Windermere, adventure playground, garden trails, shop, caf\u00e9, the Gaddum Restaurant, Tree Top Trek, kayak\/canoe hire, archery, pony rides.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Low Sizergh Barn, Farm Shop &amp; Farm Trail<\/strong> &#8211; award-winning National Trust farm, selling delicious local produce, crafts and art. Raw Milk, homemade cakes, pastries and a cheese counter to rival all others in the shop. Tea-room, watch the cows being milked at 3.30pm. every day.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lakeland Farm Visitor Centre, Ings,<\/strong> near Windermere. With farm shop, kitchen, butchers and an Arena where you can release your inner farmer.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Alpacaly Ever After &#8211; Bassenthwaite<\/strong>. This family-run farm rescues alpacas and llamas, and you can visit, walk with them and experience their relaxing personalities.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Graythwaite Adventure, Windermere<\/strong> &#8211; for high adrenaline fun in the form of water-based, or land-based activities &#8211; for just the two of you or larger groups. Off-roading, archery, dinghy\/raft races, paddleboarding etc<\/p>\n<h2>Things to Do in the Lakes in 2021 when the weather sends you indoors<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Climbing Walls &#8211; <\/strong>Keswick, Ambleside, Kendal. Our local friendly climbing walls are great for practice or if the weather turns. With cafes, music and a friendly vibe you&#8217;ll be most welcome.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rheged, Penrith &#8211; <\/strong>Open all year, with shops, cafes, art galleries, a cinema and changing exhibitions. Lots of space and a great way to spend an afternoon, and have lunch too.<\/p>\n<p>Check out our full <a>Things to Do pages<\/a> for more inspiration for your 2021 holiday to the Lake District.<\/p>\n<h2>2021 Calendar<\/h2>\n<h3>Spring<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Coast to Coast Packhorse cycling Festival<\/strong> 12-15 Apr<br \/>\nA 4-day cycling challenge and an actual event to participate in, whilst mass-participation events remain banned.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Carlisle Country Music Festival<\/strong> 14- 16 May 2021<\/li>\n<li><strong>Keswick Mountain Festival<\/strong>21 &#8211; 23 May 2021<br \/>\nCrow Park, Keswick. Sporting events, outdoor activities, pop-up campsite and Festival Village packed with fun child-friendly activities, delicious food and drinks as well as live music in the evenings<\/li>\n<li><strong>Daffodil-watch<\/strong> Feb- Mar<br \/>\nHead to the famous place where William Wordsworth was inspired &#8211; Glencoyne Bay on Ullswater to see the &#8216;host of golden daffodils&#8217;. You&#8217;ll also see them near to his home Dove Cottage in Grasmere, Dora&#8217;s Field (named after his daughter). You&#8217;ll see these lovely yellow blooms nodding &amp; dancing all over the Lakes.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Bluebell-watch<\/strong> Apr-May<br \/>\nThese delicate blue-purple flowers carpet the Lakes in woodlands or meadows. Famous spots include Rannerdale, near Buttermere, Grasmere &amp; Rydal, Grizedale Forest, Muncaster Castle.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Summer<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Keswick Beer Festival<\/strong> 4-5 Jun 2021<br \/>\nKeswick Rugby Club. Over 200 VS beers and ciders, excellent bands on both nights, huge marquee, scenic rugby club.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Kendal Calling<\/strong> 29 Jul &#8211; 1 Aug 2021, Lowther Castle, Penrith<\/li>\n<li><strong>Great British Food Festival<\/strong> 3 &amp; 4 Jul 2021, Lowther Castle, Penrith<\/li>\n<li><strong>Westmorland County Show Ground<\/strong> Country Fest 5 &amp; 6 Jun<br \/>\nCelebrating country life &amp; food.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Autumn<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Westmorland County Show<\/strong> 9 Sept 2021<br \/>\nCrafts, animals, food &amp; drink a great day out.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Wasdale Show &amp; Shepherd&#8217;s Meet <\/strong>9 Oct 2021<br \/>\nOne of the oldest local shows.
