A large hand picked collection of works by Cumbrian and British artists can be found here, ranging from jewellery and ceramics, to paintings and photographs.<\/p>\n<p>But not only do we recommend dedicating plenty of time to admire the artworks on display in Percy House Gallery &#8211; the building itself is also a sight to behold. Dating back to the Tudor period and possibly earlier, original features like the oak beam ceilings, original flagstone floors, fireplaces and plasterwork add even more charm to this gem of a gallery. What\u2019s more? There\u2019s a total of seven historic rooms in which the artworks are displayed, making the gallery in Cockermouth feel like there\u2019s a masterpieces around every inch and corner.<\/p>\n<h2>The most charming gallery in Cockermouth<\/h2>\n<p><Angie Flyn, Venus Griffiths, Jim Kearney, Peter Dworok are all among the highly celebrated artist who have been featured at Percy House Gallery over recent years. Exhibitions of works by visiting artists are also held here every 4-6 weeks\u00a0in which you can find spectacular photos and prints of the majestic Lake District landscape.\n\nPercy House Gallery lies just beneath the ancient castle walls of Cockermouth Castle, with the historic Jennings Brewery behind it. Crummock Water, Derwentwater and Bassenthwaite Lake are all nearby - making a trip over to Percy House Gallery and Cockermouth a must when compiling your list of things to do in the Lake District.\n\n<strong>Tips \/ Hints:<\/strong> In one of the upstairs rooms is a carved plaster ceiling with the date 1598. The centre of the ceiling bears a Tudor rose and lover\u2019s knot with the initials &#8216;AM&#8217;. Also depicted are various hunting animals and birds. Don\u2019t forget to look out for them during your visit to a gallery in Cockermouth!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why we love it:<\/strong> Not every gallery can boast such a warm welcome as the one that awaits you in Percy House.
