Lodges immaculate with everything you need and more. The owner Cathy and her daughter Eliza were friendly and helpful. 100% recommend a stay at the lodges.
- Barry, August 2021Emma “We had a fabulous 4 night stay in the Holt lodge.”
It was probably the cleanest self catering accommodation we’ve stayed in and was so nicely decorated, we actually ended up asking for the link to the bath and buying it for our new home! The location is great, very close to Kendal and Windermere but you still feel like you’re in the complete peace and quiet. The bed was a bit soft for us and some black out blinds/curtains in the bedroom would have been helpful but otherwise we had a great stay.
- Emma, August 2021Thank you for the review, Miss Goodwin. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay at High Borrans, Holt. The location is great, and perfect for enjoying peace and tranquillity yet close to the bustling little tourist town of Windermere. Thank you for your suggestion for blackout blinds, we shall pass this on to the owners to consider and will also let them know that you found the bed a little too soft for your liking. We do find that comfort is a personal preference although we know that the owner is keen to ensure guests have a perfect stay. We are so pleased that you otherwise had a great stay and look forward to you returning again in the near future. Property Owner

We thought the lodge may feel small as it was for two but it was beautiful and plenty of room. The site is lovely too - so much space around each lodge. Great value for money and we will certainly be back.

The accommodation and location were perfect and exactly what me and Mrs desired - driving through a working farm really amplifies the remoteness and a real country feel. The perfect getaway. We What did you enjoy most about your stay? Everything What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Being so close to Windermere and surround villages

- Mrs Annette Davies, Jul 2020Mr Stephen Bennett “Very nice clean cabin far enough away to be quiet but close enough to everything so that you didn What did you enjoy most about your stay?”
Very well kitted out with all domestic tools and appliances What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Helvellyn via striding edge
- Mr Stephen Bennett, Nov 2019Mr David Davies “4 nights: The cottage was spotlessly clean and very comfortable, apart from the bed which we adapted with blankets etc in order to be able to sleep on the mattress.”
We also put 'padding' at the bottom of the bed over the wooden base legs to prevent smashing our legs. There were only 5 coat hangers which was totally insufficient and we could not unpack most of our suitcase. We would have liked bigger bath towels, face cloths and a few more items of cutlery, especially as we were doing all our own cooking. We were a little surprised that there was not a 'starter' pack of the basic necessities such as we find in Australia and which saves the holidaymaker having to go immediately to the shops for items such as milk, bread, cereals. The shower was excellent and the rest of the bathroom, no expense spared. Notwithstanding the minor irritations, we had a lovely, relaxing stay; very peaceful, warm and the free laundry facility was extremely helpful and appreciated having travelled so far. We were not far from Lake Windermere which was our main reason for visiting the area and the excellent shopping facilities at Kendal. Would highly recommend this venue for anyone who wants to unwind and just forget the hurly burly of city life. What did you enjoy most about your stay? the tranquility of the setting, the local scenery and architecture What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? a cruise on Lake Windermere
- Mr David Davies, Oct 2019Miss Emily Green “Our second stay at High Borrans, once again the lodge was spotless, well equipped and a delight to stay in.”
Very reasonably priced for the bank holiday weekend. Great location and wonderful views! What did you enjoy most about your stay? The morning views from the lodge What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Walk from Brockhole to Ambleside over Wansfell
- Miss Emily Green, Sep 2019Mr Daniel Pallister “Great value for money, cosy cabin with plenty of room.”
Close to windermere for any local shops and also close to local walks. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Great furnishings and fittings What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Helvellyn
- Mr Daniel Pallister, Jun 2019Mr Tony Martin Long “We have recently arrived home from spending a week at this wonderful location and missing it already.”
We wanted to spend some down time together away from the hustle and bustle of every day life and enjoy the peace and quiet. We certainly had oodles of that at High Borrans and with the added pleasure of spending our time in an extremely comfortable lodge type accommodation. High Borrans "Holt" was one of just seven lodges plus one shepherds hut which was located on a well kept site which is part of a working farm high in the hills. Location wise this is not for holiday makers who want regular evening entertainment and is certainly not suitable for children hence the owners decision to make the accommodation available for couples only. For us it was a little piece of heaven - quiet with just the wonderful bird chorus and the occasional sounds of farm animals. Myself and my husband are admittedly getting on in years and the farm was located in such a position that we could easily access the many pathways and walks beyond the farm following well signposted bridleways and with the amazing weather that we had during our stay we indulged in much needed exercise in beautiful surroundings. The accommodation was cosy and beautifully furnished kept to a high standard with a lovely wrap around verandah that you could use to sit and watch the sun go down. We loved this place and would recommend it to anyone wanting that peaceful getaway holiday What did you enjoy most about your stay? The seclusion but easy driving access to the lakes and surrounding areas What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? make sure you get out and walk those bridlepaths
- Mr Tony Martin Long, May 2019Mr Mike Oliver “A short break for our wedding anniversary.”

- Mr Michael Evans, Sep 2018Mr Dave Tudor “We loved every minute of our week long stay.”
Everything you could want on site, in the countryside and yet only 3 miles from the centre of Windermere. There was a lovely public footpath over the fields of this working farm with wonderful views. Whilst sitting on the decking at night not only could you see the vast array of stars but occasionally you could see shooting stars. This is the ideal location for couples who want to getaway from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. We were given a warm and friendly welcome upon our arrival at the log cabin. The cabin was absolutely stunning inside and this is by far the best we have ever stayed in. We would both most definitely recommend staying at High Borrans. You won't be disappointed. We will most definitely be returning for a second holiday at High Borrans. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Surroundings. Peace and quiet. What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? - Mr David Brown, Jul 2018Mr Mike Harris “Quite isolated but easy access to Windermere and Troutbeck.”

What did you enjoy most about your stay? Peace and quiet. What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Excellent food at the Italian Restaurant in Windermere!
- Mr Mike Harris, Jun 2018Mrs Lesley Frater “This was our third visit to High Borrans and as with the previous visits we find it a quiet site which almost feels like your not in the lakes but take a ten minute car journey and you're in the heart of the lakes.”

- Mrs Lesley Frater, Jun 2018Mrs Natalie Inge “The company were very helpful right from the start, I needed to change to date due to my husbands working requirements and this was no hassle.”
Then we received emails advising on a number of different points and and directions, these were great. The lodge was very clean and tidy and exactly what we were after. It was lovely to be situated where we were and the lack of signal was lovely. It gave us some time away from the hectic every day and we got to spend some quality time together before our little one arrives in August. It was lovely to be able to get out with walking boots and just walk. The lodges were spaced out nicely, there was space to park and there was no disruption or interference from other lodges. I would thoroughly recommend this place to anyone and would love to come back for a longer stay. What did you enjoy most about your stay? The location was exactly what we needed. What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? We went for dinner at the prince of India and would recommend that too.
