I'll begin by saying that our short break was fantastic. We had a great time. So clean, very homely. Our 6 year old boy was crying when we left because he wanted to stay so much. Everything was great apart from one or two things. Firstly the double mattress was soft and we both prefer a firmer mattress so by the end of the 4th night I was waking with a slightly stiff back. Secondly, my partner and I both got bitten and felt a little itchy around the lodge. We didn't have the windows open. The children were unaffected. I don't know if the itchiness was due to the time of year and being by a lake out in the country or what, but we definitely felt itchy. That said, we loved the lodge and will return as the children were so happy there. Thank you for a lovely stay. Marvyn Dickinson, Preston

Beautiful, very clean, warm and cosy lodge. My partner and 10 year old son stayed here in October half-term. The lodge was immaculate and we could keep it warm for as long as needed (weather a bit cold and drizzly). It had everything you needed, from tea, coffee, sugar, toilet rolls, clean towels, washing up liquid, cloths, dvd's and some family games. It is a good 45 mins walk into Bowness - which is fine in the daylight - taxi back was £6.50, as there are no street lights to see where you are walking. The complex the lodge is on was excellent. Great food and drinks and not over priced. We took a trip to Windermere last October to Fallbarrow - this was much closer to Bowness. I would recommend either, just to stay in the Lakes as it is beautiful. Yet we really couldn't fault Tiggywinkle - except we are used to a king-size bed - that is the only teeny critizism!!!! About White Cross Bay

White Cross Bay is located between Windermere & Ambleside on the shores of Lake Windermere. It is one of the most popular holiday parks in the very heart of the Lake District and the great location makes it a convenient base for a self catering stay in the area.

The focal point is the lake front and marina with stunning views across to the surrounding fells and countryside. The park offers plenty to do with a large clubhouse which includes the bar, restaurant and leisure facilities (a £15 local charge applies to use the pool and gym).
