Brightwater Lodge - White Cross Bay

Unfortunately, our experience at the lodge was poor due to the fact we were told on the day we were arriving that the hot tub was not going to be working. We travelled up from the south coast and were contacted 4 hours into our journey and offered a full refund if we no longer wanted to stay or £100 compensation. The frustrating part was that we were told that they were aware of the fault on the Monday and did not contact us until our arrival day on the Friday to let us know. They were hoping the part that needed changing would have been fixed on the Friday, however the incorrect part was sent. While we appreciated this was circumstantial, what we were not happy with was the fact we had no option at this stage but to go ahead and continue with our trip. Had we of been told on the Monday that the hot tub was broken and they were hoping it would be fixed on Friday, we would have still had the option to book another lodge elsewhere. Also, the TV in the master bedroom was broken. It was a very disappointing stay for us and previously, we have had no issues with any of the prior 3 visits we've made to White Cross Bay. Location and general cleanliness of the site and lodge was fantastic as always.

We appreciate your review and apologise you were not entirely satisfied with your stay, although we note you kindly point out the lodge was fantastic – thank you. We would like to clarify the situation with the hot tub, as although we were aware of a problem the Monday prior to your stay we had been told by the engineer that it would be fixed by the time you arrived on the Friday. Maintenance issues crop up regularly and are usually resolved without the need to contact guests. It is regrettable that on this occasion the wrong part was delivered which meant it was not possible to fix in time for your stay. We immediately contacted you with the news and with a couple of options. We realise it was short notice and can only apologise for the inconvenience this caused. In hindsight perhaps we should have made you aware sooner. We shall certainly look at our procedures when dealing with these sorts of issues in future. Brightwater is a super lodge for a relaxing break, great location and comfortable accommodation. We would be delighted should you choose to return in the near future and are sure you will have a very enjoyable stay.

Family break

Bridgewater Lodge has great facilities & is well appointed. The only negative comment I can make is that the hot tub temperature dropped after our 1st night. Not a major issue as the weather was terrible during our stay so we didn't use it much. The service we received from Lake District Lodges was excellent so I've no doubt that this would have been sorted if we'd bothered to report it.

October Break

We (family of 5) had an excellent 4 night break at Brightwater Lodge in October. The accommodation suited us perfectly and the addition of the hot tub added to the enjoyment. It was great value for money.

Thank you for your kind comments and superb ratings, Ruth. It is very pleasing to hear you had an excellent family break at Brightwater Lodge - and the hot tub is indeed a super addition and very relaxing! Brockhole comes highly recommended for a family day out, so many fun things to do for all ages and only a short walk from the lodge. Perhaps we will welcome you again for another visit in the near future? (complete with your loyalty discount!).

Lodge good site clean issue s with site food

Lodge and hot tub very good site very clean and secure ample parking.Kitchen items were plentiful, washer and dryer came in very useful as we did get some real lakes weather rain which did not keep us in.Although it is a dog friendly site there is only a beer garden at the pub on site where you can take dogs this area is totally uncovered making it useless in wet weather.Although i agree dogs should be allowed in pub also on site food left a lot to be desired not a major problem many fine eating places a short drive away some even deliver. In conclusion i would stay at brightwater lodge again.

Bright water lodge

Glass was left in the living area floor and my nephew cut his Gt Toe. DVD player not working in bunk bed room which was a shame. Nice log cabin and good location.

Review date: 11th August 2017

Thank you for your review, Sonia and our apologies on hearing your nephew cut his toe on some glass. We are very sorry this happened and have brought it to the attention of the housekeepers responsible for the lodge who are themselves very apologetic. The lodges are inspected on a regular basis and it is unusual for an incident like this to happen. Thank you for letting us know about the DVD player and we will have this checked - Had you let us know at the time we would have gladly replaced this for you during your stay. We trust it did not cause too much impact on your stay although please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused. Brightwater Lodge is indeed in a good location, ideal for exploring the Lake District and in a super position close to the marina and lake shore. A modern and cosy lodge fully equipped for a relaxing stay in the Lakes. We trust you went on to enjoy your break at Brightwater and perhaps we will welcome you again in the near future.

Birthday Weekend

This lodge was not my first choice, it was the only one available at the time with a hot tub. The layout and location seemed fine on paper, and it is in walking distance of the lake which is perfect for morning strolls. The lodges are placed very close together which I didn't like, we were in the middle of three rows which meant we could see into the lodge behind when in the hot tub. We were also spoken to by a "passer by" who asked us to keep the noise down in the hot tub, there was only 2 of us, and we were only talking quietly, the party behind us were making noise. We could also hear music from a party nearby. People could cut through to reach their lodge, encroaching on our privacy which I didn't like. This doesn't help when the lodges are too close. The bedrooms were adequate, and the larger bedroom has a "dressing room" which will fit a travel cot in. There is plenty of storage space in the 2 double bedrooms. The bedroom with the bunk beds isn't spacious and we found it difficult to work the blind, as its very close to the bed. The toilet brushes could do with replacing also. We noticed on arrival a funny smell, which came from the kitchen. We noticed that some oven trays had not been cleaned property and were just put back in the cupboard. I ended up cleaning some myself, and having to leaving one outside, as the smell was distracting. The cash machine in the Reception was empty. Overall the accommodation was ok, but would probably book something in another location of the park next time.

Review date: 10th July 2017

We were sorry to hear you were not entirely satisfied with your accommodation, although having said that we were pleased you found a lodge to accommodate all your requirements and to enjoy a birthday celebration. Lodges with hot tubs are very popular and quickly snapped up, hence necessary to book far in advance for weekend stays in the summer months, especially for a specific lodge in mind. Thank you for bringing a few minor issues to our attention and we will have these addressed; we do politely ask guests to leave crockery, pots and pans used throughout their stay clean for the next guest and it appears on this occasion a few things were overlooked. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused. We were rather surprised to hear you were disturbed by noise although you make no mention on the time of day or evening? The Park have a strict policy that noise is kept to a minimum between the hours and 10pm and 8am, and are usually very good at enforcing this with strict consequences. As this is something outside of our control we have passed on your comments, including ‘cutting through’ and the cash machine to the Park Management. White Cross Bay is one of the most sought after destinations in the Lake District and although some of the lodges are close to each other all have an outside terrace and many with hot tubs. Brightwater is a spacious 3-bedroom lodge with a hot tub, ideal for families or a get together. In addition, a lovely location close to the lake and perfect for enjoying a morning stroll - the scenery is marvellous.

Brightwater Lodge

This lodge is fully equipped with everything you might possibly need during your stay. It is large and spacious with decent sized rooms and comfy beds. It was also very clean when we arrived. The hot tub was amazing and used a lot while we were there as we had very hot weather. If there was a negative to find, it is that the hot tub is very overlooked by the lodges around it. This didn't bother us, but it could bother others. Overall, another amazing stay in these lodges for us. We will be back.

Beautiful Lodge

A beautiful lodge which has everything you need. Was a pity we couldn't use the hot tub while we were there due to it needing a part. Would definitely stay there again.

Review date: 01st June 2017

Thank you for your comments, Beverley and we were pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay at Brightwater Lodge. We do apologise that on this occasion the hot tub was not working, it is unusual for this to occur although thank you for your understanding at such short notice - It is now fixed. The lodge is indeed beautiful and offers modern, spacious and very well equipped accommodation. Perfect for all the family to enjoy a relaxing and comfortable stay. The Chocco Bar in Bowness is a ‘delicious’ find and pure heaven for all chocoholics! We are thrilled to hear you will be returning and look forward to welcoming you again – complete with hot tub.
