We loved staying in Grandpa's Lodge. The cabin was clean and comfortable. The kitchen provided for all our needs and matched our own gas hob and electric oven combination. The beds were comfortable. The central heating was efficient enabling us to dry out our swimming things overnight. The lake is just at the far end of the site. We were blessed with several sightings of wild deer close to the lodges. We made good use of the swimming pool and sauna - all well worth the £15.00 charge per stay. We did not actually use the cafeteria/bar but the menu looked good. The kids enjoyed the on site playgrounds. Brockhole Adventure playground is just a few hundred yards walk away and we spent the best part of a day there on the tree top nets and playground and exploring the rest of the site. This is definitely on the list for a future visit with the grandchildren as we did not book early enough for the "Go Ape" style climb and amazing zip wire finale. We also visited Ambleside and walked up to Stockghill Force waterfall. This is best accessed from the town centre car park and is initially not well sign posted. I often think the acid test of a holiday is "Would we come again?" The answer is a definite Yes!
