An excellent stay

Fantastic lodge and site. We were up for a swimming weekend but a bit disappointed we weren't able to swim straight out into the lake from the waterfront area.

Review date: 15th October 2018

Thank you for your comments, Jon. We are delighted to hear the lodge was fantastic and you had an excellent stay. With regard to swimming, Millerground is the nearest and safest place to swim in the lake. Although White Cross Bay does have direct access, this is for launching boats and the mooring of boats in the marina. A wonderful place to simply relax and soak up the magnificent view. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay at Grizedale Lodge and it will be a pleasure to welcome you again in the near future.

Lovely family short break

We came with our little dog and two children and it was perfect. The lodge itself was so cosy and lovely and even though it was private in its own way, it was still very communal around the other people on the site. We were looking for a last minute holiday that was relaxing but that had the option to do activities if we wanted. The pool and gym were both used and the restaurant food was beautiful. It was a shame that the boathouse wasn't dog friendly but there were some seats near reception that we were welcome to for breakfast. We all enjoyed the evening entertainment like the quizzes and word games, and the atmosphere was very pleasant. Only a short drive away from Bowness, Ambleside and grassmere so perfect for days out. Overall a great holiday and we hope to be back soon!

Lovely lodge

The lodge is warm comfortable and very well equipped. Able to take our little dog but but able to go in the bar on site with her. This meant we were unable to use on site facility and went out instead. Understandable that can't leave dogs in lodges as would maybe bark and disturb other residents but loss of revenue for white cross bay and would therefore prefer to stay in a cottage in village in future. Would recommend the mortal man in troutbeck for views and food!

Thank you for your review, Daphne. We note and are pleased that you found the lodge to your satisfaction, indeed a lovely lodge. Whilst we take on board your further comments and apologise that you were not able to take your dog into the onsite bar, we do make guests aware of this information during the booking process as well as on our website. As booking agents to privately owned lodges this is something outside of our control, although we have passed on your comments to the Park management for their reference. We were pleased to hear you found the Mortal Man, a delightful pub with amazing views. The Lake District is one of the most dog friendly places in the country, and with so many pubs and bars to choose from one is never too far away. Grizedale Lodge can comfortably accommodate up to 6 guests and a dog, a superb choice for those looking to explore the area and also relax with friends or family in modern and cosy accommodation.
