Great stay in comfortable lodge

We are returning visitors to Limefitt and as usual we were not disappointed. Herdwick Lodge is in a great location and is not overlooked at the front. The lodge was very clean and exceptionally well equipped. The facilities on site are excellent particularly the dog walking field and the Haybarn pub which serves good food at a decent price with a good choice. Lots of walks from the site and Ambleside and Windermere can be walked to quite easily.

Well equipped Lodge in a fantastic location on the site

The lodge was a good size for a family of four with great views from the terrace. The sites position in Troutbeck provides a quieter feel than directly around Windermere with country views and direct access to walks.

Lovely 7 day break with family and 1 bulldog

Recently stayed at the herdwick lodge at limefitt park for 7 days with family and was great the weather was red hot the lodge was very clean and modern and lodge position was ideal too be able too sit and watch kids play football right up into the evening as the decking overlooked the field. Kids saw rabbits, sheep, deer, across the field every other morning and loved playing in the stream which is 5 mins away from lodge. Kids also did the horse trekking which was about £25 for half an hour but was well worth it, the stables are a 10min walk away and you trek around the park and past the stream. Also got taxi into bowness too go for a meal, taxi is £15 to go there, also clubhouse the haybarn is a 5min walk from lodge. The lodge was ideal for a family break and would definitely recommend and we would definitely be booking again.

Quite clean, except bed had not been changed, had to get Margaret out to change bed linens, and there were cobwebs round doors inside, the area was quite, but nothing to do on site, pub opens at 3 p.m, so if you don't want to cook you have to go out, it also said dogs to be kept on leads, except doggy area but several people ignored this, and my dog was nearly set upon, luckily we defused that quickly, and no harm was done, , very over priced in and around Windermere, tourist trap springs to mind, stunning views though, won't return sorry.

Thank you for your review Michelle and we were sorry to hear you did not enjoy your Lake District holiday. Although you kindly let us know of your concerns with the lodge when you arrived and these were quickly addressed to your satisfaction, it seems that you just did not enjoy your experience of the lake district. Herdwick Lodge is located on Limefitt, a small and peaceful holiday park with amazing views of the surrounding fells. Within a mile of Limefitt Park are two excellent pubs serving food and drink all day and both have superb outdoor seating to capture the magnificent scenery (on a glorious summers day, this is the perfect place to be!). Noting the incident with your dog, we shall pass this on to the park management for their reference along with your further comments relating to the park. We are sorry to hear you will not be returning although thank you for giving us a go and staying in one of our lodges - and for recommending the lodge to others.

Clean and comfortable lodge

Herdwick lodge was clean and comfortable with all the things you need for a home from home stay. The weather was very mixed for a short break but it did not stop us getting out and about. Limefit Park is a bit more rural than Whitecross Bay and a car was definitely needed to get down to Windermere or Ambleside. We ate one evening at the onsite tavern and the food was fine and staff very friendly. The dog field where you can let your dog roam free is quite small and can get very busy so we took our little pooch early morning and late evening.
