Welcome to High Borrans Percy – The little Shepherd’s Hut
High Borrans Percy is a perfectly formed Shepherd’s Hut located at High Borrans Farm which is owned and managed by the Hodgson family. The farm is set in a peaceful rural location and yet only a 10 minute drive from the centre of Windermere with its shops, cafes and restaurants.
The Shepherd’s Hut is named after local gentleman farmer and shepherd, Percy Warrener. His legacy of encouraging the latest generation of the Hodgson Family to continue with traditional sheep farming methods, is a fitting reminder of how farming has shaped the Lake District through the years.
Local craftsmen at the Cumbrian Shepherd’s Hut Company constructed the hut. It is beautifully designed to maximise the space. Despite being compact, it has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The Shepherd’s Hut will sleep 2 guests – perfect for couples wanting a romantic getaway.

The Shepherds hut is situated on a farm ten minutes drive from Windermere and Bowness on Windermere. The hut is in a very peaceful paddock seperate from the other lodges with a nice chipped seating area out front and a grassed area to the side.We were visited on our arrival by a friendly corgi dog which turned out to be sheep dog that joined the farms three other border collies rounding up the farms sheep. The sheep pens are just over a traditional stone wall in front of the hut.We spent some time watching the farmers working the sheep with their dogs. The sheep were'nt left in the pens overnight so there was no noise. We had trips out to the local towns during our stay and the hut would make an excellent base for walking the fells and hills. The hut itself was spotlessly clean.A double bed at one end(be aware there is only one way in so if your on the inside and need to get up during the night you have to either climb over your partner or shift them. This was not a big problem).A central seating area with kitchen and at the other end toilet, walk in shower and basin.A TV and WiFi was nice for evening entertainment.A small cosy(due to underfloor heating)accomodation which we thouroughly enjoyed. Also on site was laundering facilities and an iron and ironing board. We would wholy recomend this holiday and would return in a heartbeat.
