October half term 2018

We had a fantastic holiday at Tall Trees Lodge. Lake district lodge holidays are always a pleasure to book with and seem to genuinely care that you enjoy your stay. White cross bay is fairly central and children friendly. Lots of things to do not too far away. You would probably need a car or transport to eat out at night. We used the pool on site, you have to book a time slot to swim which initially put us off, but actually it works out quite well as there is plenty of room to swim. The kids enjoyed Wray castle, very child friendly. We ate at the onsite restaurant a couple of times, it's not gourmet cuisine but our meals were very nice and the staff friendly and helpful. The lodge itself is well spaced out and we really liked the layout. It was warm and clean when we arrived. The hot tub is lovely and yes there is a path that runs along the side but even though it was October half term and busy we never felt overlooked. The lodge is in a nice location on the park, a little culdusac setting but easy walking distance to all the facilities. Having read some of the other reviews I would agree that the sofas are a little dated and uncomfortable. We found the beds very comfortable, lovely ensuite, lots of storage space and a washer/dryer. Overall I would not hesitate to stay here again or book with Lake district Lodge holidays. Thank you for another wonderful stay in the beautiful Lake District.

Great place to stay, lodge is quite tired

We felt the cost of the lodge for the week wasn’t quite representative of the quality of furnishings. We have stayed at white cross bay before in another lodge and can only compare against this. It may just be our dynamics, but because we had younger children and a dog, we were out all day until early evening and then self catering and resting. The sofas were very small and tired, the kitchen equipment not very good and generally most items need an update. I’m not saying this to put people off as the beds were comfortable, the hot tub was great, it just needs a little investment to make it match the rental price.

Amazing lodge

We always stay on this park - this lodge has been the best by far! Very homely and all the utensils you need. In a great area of the park, nice and quiet!

Fantastic lodge in a great location

The lodge is in a fantastic location and provides a great base for access to lots of area's around the lake district. We found the lodge very spacious and clean on arrival. The lodge has excellent facilities and the hot tub is always a great feature. The decking is looking very tired in places but it is clear that the owner is addressing this issue. The White Cross bay site is excellent for people with young children, it has a swimming pool and kids club activities in the onsite clubhouse/ restaurant. The lodge/ white Cross bay site also provides direct access to lake windermere.

We are glad you enjoyed your stay - Tall Trees is very popular with our guests offering comfortable, spacious accommodation complete with it's own private use hot tub.

Birthday weekenders

As a long weekend getaway for my mums 50th birthday this was perfect. Quick walk to the boathouse and a nice stroll to the waterside. Only the public path down the back of the lodge let this down a little. Would definitely stay in this lodge again

We’ll be back

As the title says we’ve booked again. Stayed last year in the sister lodge pine trees which is a lovely lodge as well but we wanted a hot tub to sooth our aching legs after all the walking and it was a great. It’s a very spacious lodge we had 2 dogs with us a springer and a German shepherd. The lodge was very clean and had everything we wanted. It’s so easy to book through Lake District lodges , I queried something about my booking and it was sorted out right away.

Lodge in need of repair....

We stayed at Tall Tress for 1 week as a yearly visit to the lakes with 300 humans and their dogs,My friend had stayed at Tall Tress the year before & i fell in love with it so booked it for this year. What a difference 12 months makes. On arrival the floor in the lounge had thick clumps of dog hair and dog treats even more so when we moved the sofa so we had to hoover up on arrival. The lodge was not dog friendly. There where numerous amounts or nails sticking up in between the deck spindles.Large pieces of splintered wood sticking up on the deck.Broken spindles with paving flags probed up so dogs couldn't escape but this could have fallen on my small dog and broken a bone. There where chances missing out of the newel posts. The lounge door surrounding was hanging off and the fridge door shelf was all broken and all my stuff fell out.The lodge is defiantly in need or a lot of repair. We could not let our dog out on the deck on his own as it was not safe to do so.On the plus side the hot tub was lovely and white cross bay even thought not dog friendly only dog tolerant is a great base to explore the lakes.

Thank you for your review and we are sorry a few things weren't quite right for your stay and apologise for any inconvenience caused. The owner has informed us that there is the work planned for the deck in the next few weeks. We were not aware of the things mentioned and it would have been very easy to have made simple temporary repairs had you let us know when you were here. We provide a helpline for guests in case they have any concerns during their stay. Although your review is very much at odds with others received, we appreciate you bringing these things to our attention and we can assure you they will be addressed. Tall Trees is a very spacious, popular lodge with the benefit of a hot tub in which to relax.
