Being your day with a visit to the award-winning Muncaster Hawk & Owl Centre, to learn about and observe the birds in their aviaries, mews and the Old Rose Garden, where there is even a flying arena. At 2pm, then head over to the Meadow, to witness the captivating sites of Muncaster Castles daily birds of prey display. From the breathtaking speed of the falcon, to the striking soar of the eagle- we promise you won’t be disappointed.

Partial to the odd history lesson? Then, why not head inside Muncaster Castle, to marvel in its grand architecture and original decor, whilst taking an informative audio tour? When the kids are ready for a spot of fresh air, then head out to explore Muncaster Castles glorious 77 acres of Lake District gardens. From the beautiful Himalayan gardens and enchanting bluebell woods, to exhilarating adventure playgrounds and the all ages favourite, “Meadowvole Maze”- Muncaster Gardens exciting itinerary of attractions is endless.

Why we love it: From their beautiful “Owls by Moonlight” display and outdoor cinema in the summer, to scientific ghost vigils, Medieval reenactments and their famous Muncaster Festival- we love the incredible variety and quality of Muncaster Castle events. Our team particularly enjoy their Cumberland Sausage Festival, in May! Celebrating the very best of Cumbrian food and drink- if you’re looking to immerse yourself in Cumbrian culture, then you can’t get much better than this.

Tips/Hints: Remember to pack the dog leads and poop bags! Whilst our furry friends aren’t allowed inside the castle and the Hawk & Owl Centre, you’ll be pleased to hear however, that Muncaster Castle Gardens, are a doggy haven. The gardens even have a special viewing area for dogs and owners, so you don’t miss out on their “Sky Hunter” birds of prey display.
