Accommodation was very good, couple of faults were dealt with quickly and efficiently

Very nice property with lots of nice features.

Sofas not very comfortable and no WIFI was a real problem. The mobile phone signal was almost non existing.

A lovely chalet spotlessly clean,central heating controls easy to use.

The settees were a little bit uncomfortable but overall we enjoyed our stay. The car parking space is great plenty of room and is safe. A plus would have been to have wifi.

Our stay at Cheri was very good the accommodation was to a high standard clean and well presented better than the phots shown, close to site shop and entertainment short walk to beach,we have holidayed many times in this area off Southerness and this is by far the best I would not hesitate to stay here again if available, good cumications with owners so all in all a nice lodge and a good holiday.

On arrival I was disappointed as the lodge was very dirty with loads of bird mess on caravan and windows that looked to have been cleaned for a long time.

We had problems from the start with the entering the lodge door issues, and then discovered the patio door had been left open? Why ! The issue with door and how it was dealt with by owners, is why I am leaving a review. I feel they knew the door had issues ? We couldn’t leave the premises as the lock on door wouldn’t open and they only left one key one for patio !! Called the number given found on card in file spoke with Susan the owner, who told us nobody could look at the door until Friday, this was Tuesday but would drop Patio key off at night. Well it was 8.00 at night. Really not the exact service you’d expect from a holiday rental. As listed in a previous review even going back to 2024 the bed settee is very uncomfortable no support it’s needing replaced. We ended up my daughter and I sitting on the fold up deck chairs. The lodge on first appearances once you get in is lovely, if more attention is given it could be a WOW. But sadly at this point there is better holiday rentals near by that look much more attractive than Cheri Lodge. It looks a bit neglected wood parts been replaced on fencing all the fencing needs painted and it would look much ore attractive. And the property is also located in not a very nice row, lots of run down premises near by. The owners need to Act on the reviews holiday makers leave. I spoke with Susan the owner mentioned a few of the issues we found. But sadly they did not seem any urgency in helping with issues raised. To sum up stuck in a caravan all day while on holiday, couldn’t go out or even go for dinner at night not good, not a great holiday experience.

It's an amazing place we loved the space.

Unfortunately the bed and sofas let it down. The mattress either needs replaced or put a Panda topper on. Did not sleep well. Tried putting the single duvets under us. Made it bearable just. The sofa bed was impossible to sit on comfortably. Such a shame as otherwise it was perfect.

Lovely lodge.

Really comfortable beds . Had a lovely week staying in the Cheri lodge. We will definitely return.

What a lovely lodge this is!

Very clean and has everything you need. We have had a very nice relaxing weekend, thank you to our host. Location is great, close to beach and local amenities. A visit to the Paul Jones is a must as the food is amazing!

This place is so relaxing was a fantastic three days and the cottage is ideal in every way.

It has everything you need it's a home from home. The double bed mattress is not too comfy but apart from that we loved our time there. Was going to go to 19th hole for dinner but was far too noisy ok for a drink but we ate at the Paul Jones place and the food was fab. We also ate from the chip shop which again was nice. Would definitely go back.

Beautiful property and very private.

Close to the beach and facilities. Spacious and clean. Exceeded all expectations. There is no WiFi but phone signal is bad as well. The village needs an upgrade on supply.

The accomodation has everything you can need for your holiday.

We felt like we had a home from home! The location is great and very comfortable with ample storage. The only thing that could have made this any better would have been wifi, as you don’t get a great mobile signal. Apart from that we had a wonderful break and will definitely come back soon!

We had a really great stay at Cheri.

Lodge was so roomy and the garden area round about just added to the sense of space! Little people loved the decked area as well. Our only little niggle was no teapot and a smaller cutting knife in the kitchen would be handy. Many thanks for a lovely stay.

Property was lovely.

A little tricky to find, but clean and well maintained. One of the sofas was a bit uncomfortable and the tv signal wasn’t great at times. It would have been nice to have Wi-Fi available in the lodge. It was in a lovely location though, close to the beach. As the lodge is on a Parkdean resort we assumed we could enjoy the on-site facilities, which we could, but at extra cost of an entertainment pass, or £3.50 per person per swim for the pool. I can’t remember this being mentioned before we booked.

The lodge is very spacious and comfortable, with everything you need.

It was super to have the privacy, we felt Cheri lodge had made our break worry free. We loved Southerness, as keen walkers we enjoyed getting out and about. The site is great, we tried the food once but the constant children's music, when there were no children in the restaurant, was not the best for adults trying to relax. That said, the food was good. The Paul Jones Hotel was marvellous, first rate pub food and good prices and service. We will return!

Cheri was perfect, Great Location just what we needed for relaxing time away.

Lovely clean property would definitely recommend. Only thing I would say is one of sofa's is well used had bit of trouble getting up off it , also tv , not good reception , other than that you have an amazing property Thank-you Wendy and Julie . Thankyou

Property was excellent

We had a fantastic stay for the Easter weekend , everything you need in the van , right next to the shop and complex , only things I would say is need bathroom blinds and the firer alarm needs checked as it didn’t stop beeping all Weekend , I will definitely recommend and hire again

Accommodation was absolute fantastic and everything was provided.

Beautiful and excellently sited. The owners provide everything necessary to ensure stay is good. The only negative for our week was no Wi-Fi therefore with the signal in southerness we watched BBC all week without interruption lol. If we were to stay again we’d possibly bring DVDs to watch at night. But the Wi-Fi situation does not affect our overall thoughts. Beautiful and would stay again.

Cheri is situated in a quiet part of a large caravan park where 4 of us stayed for one week and loved it.

There was plenty of room for the 4 of us and the interior was well furnished. We appreciated plenty of storage space in the bedrooms, which were a good size as was the living room. The kitchen was also well equipped with quality fridge/freezer, washing machine, dish washer and gas hob. Everything was immaculate, and we would love to visit again. Many thanks.

This property is the nicest holiday home we have ever stayed in.

The van itself is a fantastic size and the private space around it is another huge plus. The property was immaculate when we arrived with everything we needed for our stay. It is also a two minute walk to everything on site including the beach, entertainment centre and shop. This was the first time we’ve booked a caravan stay through a private let and due to how much we loved it, I think that’s what we will be doing from now on. Thank you for sharing your beautiful property with us.

When we arrived it had been raining most of the way to Southerness.

The sky cleared in the evening and we managed to eat the Fish and Chips that we bought at JJs, sitting on the balcony in the sunshine, the suppers were very good, nice well cooked chips and a large fish in batter. Nice outside comfortable waterproof seats and cushions. The property was absolutely great, loads of room in the living area and the bedrooms. Everything was very clean and tidy and there was a wee cupboard with some games. We took with us a cd player to give music on the few days that it rained and we could not go out. The two ladies were able to play bingo in the Mermaid pub whilst I had a beer in the bar. The prices were reasonable fora holiday resort. We had a very good holiday in Cheri and would recommend this property.

Lovely lodge just the sofas are to low.

for us everything else was perfect where the lodge was situated was very quite shop just around the corner .

The lodge was wonderful had everything u needed we had to buy couple of things to make life easier ie a colander but would definitely stay again as enjoyed the two weeks weather was good thank you

Clean, comfortable accommodation.

Very spacious, too! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in a lovely part of the world. Only downside we had was it was a bit noisy from the entertainment centre at the holiday park on one day but other than that it was a really peaceful spot Would happily return!

Cheri is a really beautiful holiday home I would highly recommend staying here.

Lovely lodge but we like high backed sofas,great kitchen and television, unfortunately the bath has no safety handles and as we are both eighty we couldn't use it without fear of slipping.

Otherwise a very nice stay.

Family of 4, 2 adults, a 12 and 10 year old, gorgeous, clean and spacious lodge.

The owners couldn’t do enough for us, the setting was beautiful less then a minute walk to the beach, would highly recommend and would definitely go back.

We had a wonderful time at this lodge very spacious and clean, only downside was there was only two bath towels and two larger ones.

Which was inadequate for three adults and one child. Suggest you take more although it states towels included. Booked this to find the lighthouse which my great, great grandad worked, and where my grandad was born. Found both but unable to find where they were buried. Wonderful lodge and surroundings

.couldn't have asked for any more of the property..nice quite relaxing location only steps to the beach..rooms were spacious on suite walk in shower was a bonus..more like a house than a caravan..Real comfy beds too..can't fault anything about the place..owner so nice and very helpful...look forward to my next visit..thank you so much ..James

for general self catering i think the van was missing some kitchenware ie teapot , suitable microwave dishes

The lodge was much more spacious than we are used to and really felt more like a house than a caravan.

It was a real advantage to have such a large and encloses garden area too. The plot is about 1 min walk from the beach which was great too. The area around Southerness is lovely and attractions around Dumphries are worth checking out. The Park Dean resort that this lodge is based is not great and there are some scruffy plots that house old and rusted up caravans. It is perhaps not the best place if you are after lots of resort facilities. Nonetheless, the lodge itself is far better than you will find listed on commercial resorts. The facilities in the lodge are amazing and make the stay really comfortable and enjoyable. If you stay here expect to see lots of wild rabbits who like to come and chill in the garden!

Lovely stay at the Cheri.

This was our second visit to the Cheri. The cheri is very comfortable, lovely and spacious. Everything you need for a perfect stay. We love the area WiFi is poor but this is an advantage to a peaceful stay.

Great property with open-plan living.

All areas of the lodge were really clean and well equipped. The beach, local shop and entertainment centre were only a short walk away. The lodge is fenced in which makes it nice and private. We had two visitors each day in the garden-rabbits, which was lovely. Welcome pack left by the owners was a nice touch. Our stay was very enjoyable!

Fantastic stay!

Everything was spotless and of a high standard. Perfect location.

The holiday was all we could have wished for and was very much appreciated.

The beach was very near and the facilities were very good on the camp and off it

The accommodation is beautiful, very spacious and great kitchen facilities.

Being able to walk to the beach is lovely and the area is very quiet. Our stay was very enjoyable. The downside of the facilities was no Wifi. Due to Cheri's location there was no signal for my phone and with no Wifi I was unable to contact anyone that I needed to speak to. I feel that the accommodation was quite expensive considering it didn't have wifi.

We were really pleased with the accommodation which was clean, spacious and comfortable.

The owners also provided immediate assistance when we ran out of gas. Perhaps could have done with more items kitchen equipment and the lodge is definitely let down by the state of some of the surrounding properties, many of which are unkept and obscured by scrap vehicles / trailers, waste pallets and the like.

We had a very nice stay, the lodge was exactly as described.

The bed was comfortable, it was very cozy and easy access to the beach. It was a shame about the view from the lodge, the location could have been better but it didn't ruin our holiday at all. We would recommend this lodge.

The caravan is spacious and nicely furnished.

Pity about some of the surrounding properties where old cars and vans have just been dumped. There is a large lawned area around the property which is fenced off and not overlooked. Only a few minutes walk to the local shop and beach. Wi-Fi connection is unavailable at the property but a short walk to the entertainment building and you can get access.

Beautiful place to stay.

Looks exactly like the pictures. Lovely. Clean and very spacious. Will definitely be returning.

The picture of the lodge suggested quite an open area,in fact with a high solid wooden fence 6 feet high the rear garden was quite claustrophobic. The actual Parkdean park was well cared for, clean, tidy and as you might wish. Unfortunately the lodge was sited on the perimeter of the park set amongst much older properties, next door there was a high stack of old pallets and 2 properties away was a junkyard, in which there was a rusting bus full of weeds, an old filthy caravan and general rubbish. On the other side of the garden fence was a trailer full of scrap metal, and an old boat. On a positive note the lodge itself couldn't be faulted with excellent fixtures and fittings, though lacked some of the usual cooking /preparation implements if you want self catering.

Gorgeous and so large so quiet you must stop here I met the owner very helpful and easy to talk to.

What a brilliant holiday we had at The Cheri lodge in Southerness.

We have been going to this park for many years and this is by far the best we have stayed in -including lodges. The lodge is situated outwith the typical caravans and is in beside holiday homes, it is spacious and pristine. By far the most impressive thing for us is the fence surrounding the perimeter of the lodge and its garden - this was a godsend having a small child with Autism and ensured our peace of mind whenever the kids were outside playing. The lodge is situated close to the shop and club on one side and about as close to the beach on the other. I cannot fault this place, infact we have since re-booked for later in the year. Brilliant.

The area was very quiet as end of season but very one was very friendly.

The place we stayed in was immaculate we absolutely loved it! Would happierly live in it! Thank you so much x

Directions to chalet not clear e.

g. no road name. Looked for it for thirty minutes (vast site). Went to reception where although the chalet is not under their control (private) they provided a clear map with exact location marked. Suggest owners do same as some roads and turnings are not plain and one has to look for specific chalet name amongst many others. One other point we will not book anything again that has a Friday change over. It took us seven hours to return to Birmingham down M6 and left us in need of a holiday! Also, in future, please do not send a storm with 75 mph winds forcing us to spend one whole day trapped in the chalet unable to even open the door!

First class lodge .

.one of the best I been in ...has everything you need for your holiday ...everything there ..we all had a marvellous holiday ...recommended....thank you Great for the little ones ....swimming pool on site great entainment ..staff were really good ..lovely fish shop ..Fish and chips ..best I ever had .. Aldi Morrison's sited in Dumfries you pass them on way to lodge so bought all fresh and frozen and drink from there Took far to many clothes with us ..washing machine and dryer and iron there ...fantastic .. Loads to do around the area ...Passes for club house so reasonable 15 for adult 12 child Everyone was friendly and helpful ..had a great 2018 holiday experience..defo go again

I don't know what cottage the last reviewer was living in but unless there has been a serious clean up since April then I think they must be blind, for starters the directions to the site was spot on got there first time, secondly the name of the cottage Cheri two large signs one on the property and one on the gate so don't know how they could miss it.

Now to the cottage this is one of if not the best cottages I have ever been in the booking with Sykes was simple and their staff were brillent they could not have done more if they had tried. The cottage it's self was beautiful very big even although it only had two bedrooms two bathrooms one en suite and another sofa bed in the living area, a very large secured fenced area around the cottage with a lovely patio on the front which get the sun from morning till night, there are some other cottages nearby that are a bit untidy but have nothing to do with Cheri and the price for July is fantastic I have been in far more expensive cottages which were not nearly as nice looking and very comfortable. And I can't praise the owners enough for a great four nights thoroughly enjoyed it. The only thing that i could have a wee moan about was there was no tin opener but I am sure if the owners had known about it there would have been one there. Top Marks Five Stars

The Lodge was just as explained but what was excluded was that is located off the park dean site and located next to a derelict unused site and opposite a lived in home with a very old van semi attached / on the pitch there was also pitches with disused cars and busses with for sale signs.

The lodge had no signage showing its name and directions not very clear drove round and round eventually escorted by park dean employee who thought he knew which one it was? Eating options very limited a bit isolated not sure if Park dean complex was worth paying the fee to use. Don’t get me wrong had a terrific weekend weather excellent but will not be going back and would not recommend friends to use this lodge.
