Three miles in the other direction, head to Ambleside, another bustling town with shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants and of course, fabulous walks in every direction.
Two miles north on the A592 is the pretty village of Troutbeck, home to two traditional pubs with log fires, great food and ales: The Queens Head and the Mortal Man.

What guests are saying
Fir Tree Lodge was very welcoming in a quiet location but near to the amenities.
The decor was of a high standard and a good size TV in the lounge. The added bonus of the jacuzzi was welcomed especially as it was not overlooked. We had a maintenance issue and called Kamila who came out within the hour with her husband to rectify, which was excellent service. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay watching the rabbits, squirrels, ducks and numerous birds . We also decided to leave the car parked at the lodge and used the bus service which was amazing. The bus stop is directly outside the park and runs very efficiently . We only used the centre once but it very nice and had a small shop for essentials. As I have said we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would be happy to return.
Such a beautiful place tucked away in a stunning part of the country, so cosy, family oriented and peaceful, we wish we could have stayed longer, the owners where so helpful and on hand if needed, thank you again it was the perfect getaway and we’ll definitely be back
