Mother’s Day this year falls on Sunday 27 March, the same weekend that the clocks go forward. Why not stay the weekend and really indulge mum?

A few of our favourites are Henrock at Linthwaite House, The Gaddum at Brockhole, Low Sizergh Barn, near Kendal; Chesters by the River, The Fizzy Tarte in Bowness. Hawkshead Brewery & Beer Hall in Staveley also who do Cumbrian ‘Tapas’ and the Wild Boar at Crook, near Kendal who offer a more savoury afternoon tea.
