“I had an enjoyable and comfortable week at Ennerdale lodge.”

I arrived in the dark after a long journey, but felt rapidly at home. The essentials - toilet role, kitchen roll, soap, washing up liquid were in place, which was a big help, and the instructions for the heater and wi-fi were clear. The best feature was the quality of the mattress in the double room - previously holiday have been spoilt by low-quality mattresses, but this was high-end, and was like sleeping on a cloud - the owners are to be commended for not skimping on this item! I didn't use the twin beds so can't comment on these. The rest of the property was well-equipped and comfortable. The main living area is spacious, but the bedrooms and kitchen were tight. If you wanted to needed more space in a bedroom or kitchen this might not be the ideal property, but worked fine for me. Others have also commented on allot of the storage being at height - this was not an issue for me but might be for some. The one downside is the compactness, you go straight from the main door to the kitchen and bedrooms with only a small mat area by the door for dirty shoes etc, not ideal if several people are coming in with wet and dirty shoes and clothes, or, as I was, sorting out fishing kit. Having said this, there is a large outside veranda area which I didn't use. The surroundings were quite and peaceful, I didn't notice any road noise, and the walk to Keswick (15mins) was straightforward. Overall then, comfortable accommodation that exceeded my expectations. I'd happily stay again, not least for the bed!
