Resting on the popular White Cross Bay Holiday Park near the famed town of Windermere in the Lake District National Park is Garuda.
This bright, dog-friendly lodge benefits from a range of on-site facilities including indoor pool, sauna, bar, convenience store, a close proximity to Lake Windermere and its activities and an open-plan living space perfect for families looking to explore the Lakes.
After a fun-filled day, enter into your new home-from-home where you can unwind in front of the Smart TV before helping rustle up a hearty meal in the fully-equipped kitchen fitted with integrated appliances.
Gather the family to dine together at the table then step through the patio doors to delight in evening drinks as the sun begins to set over the park.
When sleep calls, head inside to wash away the day in the bathroom; tuck the kids into either of the twin bedrooms then head to the spacious double room with handy en-suite shower room to rest up ahead of another adventure in Windermere.
During the day head into Windermere where you can take to the water with a variety of watersports including kayaking and paddleboarding which reward guests with stunning views from the lake.
Outdoor enthusiasts can also take pleasure from the myriad of walks and trails woven throughout the National Park, hike Claife Heights, Bran Fell or Orrest Head all providing breath-taking views across the countryside.
Travel further north to explore Rydal Cave on the site of a former slate quarry, or meander through Rydal Mount and Gardens, Wordsworth’s rustic family home which boasts views of the lake. You can also find Wordsworth Grasmere nearby which is recognised as the former home of the poet and runs guided tours and a popular tea room; from here Scafell Pike, England’s highest mountain peak can be reached.

Really pleased with the lodge.
Was exactly as advertised. Very clean and quiet. Easy to walk to the lakeside through the woodland and drive to Bowness and Ambleside. At the on site pub the staff were very friendly and helpful. Was clean but was disappointed with the quality of the food. Would recommend a stay.
What a great property in a fantastic location.
The property was clean and had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. Garuda is located in a quiet wooded area of the complex and about 10 minutes stroll to the main complex and 10 minutes through the woodland walk to the lake. The lodge has everything you need and the usb sockets all over is a nice touch. The single beds are small and my teenage children had their legs dangling out of the end, but they were fine. The WiFi is shocking throughout the site apart from the bar area, so make sure you download things beforehand. As the lodge is privately owned, if you want to use the pool or join in the children’s activities, you have to pay for day passes, but the pool slots are booked up weeks in advance, but they do keep some spaces free but you would have waiting lists for each session. All other facilities like bar restaurants and games room and outdoor play areas are free to use. We ate in the Boathouse most days and enjoyed it check the daily specials and you can save a fair bit. If you download the Parkdean App, it makes ordering really simple and a lot faster than waiting at the bar. We visited in August and the area was really busy. Decided to use public transport and the bus stops at the main gate. We bought a family day ticket (£49 2adults 2children) with unlimited bus travel and a ticket on the ferry and had a great time touring around and sailing down the lake. Buses run every 10 minutes on the main routes and the open top buses added to the adventure. The lake is beautiful and a 10 minute stroll through the woodland walk brings you out to the marina. We ate picnics most days on the picnic tables watching all the boats cruising up and down.
The lodge was clean and tidy on arrival; however, on closer inspection we felt it would benefit from a deep clean.
The beds were comfortable, but we felt that the duvets and pillows could do with being replaced as they appeared worn. The lounge furniture was uncomfortable, and the layout made it difficult for all six guests to comfortably watch the television together. We found the kitchen to be impractical. There was limited cupboard space available for food storage due to the amount of crockery and glassware provided. The cupboard in the hallway had an unpleasant smell, which meant we were unable to use it for food storage. We also found some of the kitchen cupboards difficult to reach. The cooking pots and trays appeared old and worn, and we felt some of the cookware could benefit from being updated. Overall, the property was satisfactory and everyone enjoyed their stay.

White Cross Bay has its own onsite facilities. You will need to purchase a complex pass from reception which includes the use of the pool, entertainment and access to bar and restaurant. The prices are subject to change by park management.

All holiday parks are owned and managed by a separate company to ourselves. Lake District Lodge Holidays has no association with the owners of these parks or responsibility for the provision of services they offer. At certain times of year, there maybe a reduction in those services, which is outside of our control.
Commercial vehicles, caravans, camper vans, Hen or Stag parties are not permitted onsite.
You will be staying on an operational holiday park, which means work may be undertaken from time to time by the park owners during your stay. Although Lake District Lodge Holidays will always try to inform guests in advance if something may impact on a stay and if we have prior knowledge. We cannot be held responsible or accept any liability for park operations of which are outside of our control and which we have no knowledge of.
Any issues relating to a stay at a privately owned lodge should be reported back through Lake District Lodge Holidays as the park are not responsible for managing the lodge or booking for private sublet guests during their stay.
