    “If you are going stay here, ensure you bring a hoover, mop bucket and bleach.”

    I was charged over £115 in cleaning fees. The place was left spotless however I was charged for “extra cleaning time” because the bedding needed cleaning? Isnt this basic maintenance and health and safety? I’ve never known to be charged for such ridiculous things, the owners and the ‘middle man’ company are out to get as much as they possibly can from it’s paying customers, I’ve felt more assured sleeping at haven campsites than this pretentious cabin. Absolute shame and scam ...

    Dear Sir. We are very sorry that your stay at Nutkins Lodge was less than satisfactory and that you felt the need to leave this review. At Nutkins, we try our very best to ensure every guest is happy and their needs are catered to. We pride ourselves on achieving a Five Star ‘Perfect’ status across the board and strive to maintain these high standards so that our guests receive the best possible experience. From comfort to facilities and themed hampers and decor throughout the year, we are pleased that Nutkins has become a favourite for returning guests. Testament to this are our reviews, which we welcome you to read at your leisure. We wish to put your mind at ease and address all your individual concerns regarding this matter further. Lakedistrict Lodge Holidays is a company that Nutkins is advertised through. Their platform ensures a wide variety of access for both owner and potential guest, and we have found their service to be amazing to date. On each booking, a guest receives information regarding a £200 Housekeeping bond. This is clearly stated on the Lodge profile and is included in the booking information. This is to safeguard against any potential damage that the property may incur. Upon each departure, our lovely, excellent Squirrel cleaning lady attends to prepare the lodge for future guests. This includes general cleaning, changing of beds, and towels, equating to all-around maintenance, and the replenishment of complimentary items. (Bin bags, furry friend bags/towel/treats, Welcome Packs, cleaning items, foil & foil trays etc). Unfortunately, upon arriving at Nutkins after your departure, our Squirrel discovered several causes for concern. This included multiple stained bedding that had impacted through to the mattress cover (which had to be replaced), liquid/juice-stained sofa cover and adjacent wifi hub, a broken ornament, saturated bath towel discarded outside needing replacing, rubbish placed not inside a bin bag, and an oven that required a full oven clean to be fit for future hygienic use. We have contacted Lakedistrict Lodge Holidays and are aware you have received all photographs highlighting the above. We did not however, address any charges for broken items, bedding or towels that had to be replaced. The £115 was solely for the extra time and extreme cleaning methods implemented to return Nutkins to its reputable high standard. Can we please assure you no part of this goes to any other party. We hope that alleviates any concerns you have regarding where the charge you have incurred has gone to. Set within the wonderful Limefitt Park in the quaint, Cumbrian village of Troutbeck, at the heart of the magnificent Lake District National Park, lies the charming, two-bedroom holiday home of Nutkins Lodge.

This property boasts a thoughtful newly refurbished interior, with a cute nature theme running throughout.

Featuring off-road parking, an enclosed decking with garden furniture that overlooks the tranquil waters of Troutbeck, this delightful property invites a family or group of four, and their well-behaved dog, for a refreshing, self-catered escape in Cumbria. Walk down along a gravelled path towards your new home-from-home and be taken aback by the beauty of your rural setting.

Inside, you will be greeted by a well-appointed, open-plan living space, complete with a fully-equipped kitchen where the chosen chef can get to work rustling up a tasty, home-cooked meal, a dining area with ample seating, and a plush sitting area with two sofas and a sleek, wall-mounted Smart TV.

When sleep calls, a family bathroom or an en-suite shower room invite you to rejuvenate before you hunker down for a much-needed rest in either an inviting double or twin bedroom.

When you're ready, lace up your shoes and set out to explore what your local area has in store.

On foot, a brief walk will bring you to an on-site convenience store, where you can stock up on homely essentials, whilst the Haybarn Inn, a pub set within the holiday park, lies just a stone's throw from your new front door, serving up traditional, British grub when you fancy a break from cooking.

You'll also find leisure and laundry facilities within Limefitt Park to help make your stay that much more enjoyable.

For a day out, make sure you stop by the National Trust landmark of Townend, the scenic viewpoint of Orrest Head, as well as the stunning location of the Holehird Gardens, on your way into the nearby lakeside town of Windermere, where you can soak in scenic views of the eponymous Lake Windermere from Queen Adelaide's Hill, enjoy an afternoon interacting with exhibitions at The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction, or even enjoy a journey along the waters onboard a cruise from the Windermere Jetty Museum.

About the location

WINDERMERE

Ambleside 5 miles; Kendal 8.7 miles.

The small Lakeland village of Troutbeck can be found between its more famous neighbours Windermere and Ambleside, close by the Kirkstone Pass. A mixture of houses, cottages and farms, the village is scattered along a narrow lane bordered by a drystone wall. Many of these buildings date back to the 17th Century with features such as mullioned windows and heavy cylindrical chimneys and the northern end boasts its own 17th century inn. Close by, the bustling towns of Windermere and Ambleside are popular with visitors, providing a range of amenities to suit all tastes. Lake Windermere offers boat trips, including the lakeside ferry to the Lakeside Aquarium and Grizedale Forest Park. The ‘Windermere Steamboat Museum’ displays a fascinating collection of boats whilst children will enjoy the ‘World of Beatrix Potter’ in Bowness, where technology brings her characters to life. Within easy reach of destinations such as Coniston Water, Kendal, Keswick and the Lakeland Mountains, Troutbeck is ideally situated for exploring all that the region has to offer.

Park rules and operations - Limefitt Park

There is a highchair provided for you however please bring your own travel cot.

All holiday parks are owned and managed by a separate company to ourselves. Lake District Lodge Holidays has no association with the owners of these parks or responsibility for the provision of services they offer. At certain times of year, there maybe a reduction in those services, which is outside of our control.

Commercial vehicles, caravans, camper vans, Hen or Stag parties are not permitted onsite. Dogs must be kept on leads at all times and are not be left alone in the lodges at any point during your stay.

You will be staying on an operational holiday park, which means work may be undertaken from time to time by the park owners during your stay. Although Lake District Lodge Holidays will always try to inform guests in advance if something may impact on a stay and if we have prior knowledge. We cannot be held responsible or accept any liability for park operations of which are outside of our control and which we have no knowledge of.

Any issues relating to a stay at a privately owned lodge should be reported back through Lake District Lodge Holidays as the park are not responsible for managing the lodge or booking for private sublet guests during their stay.
