Ridgway Lodge was a perfect base for us to explore the Lake District with a wide range of activities within close proximity. Our group of teenagers, adults & grandparents did activities at Brockhole on Windermere, Rookin House Farm and Ambleside. We also enjoyed Abseiling at Hodge Close Quarry and Ghyll Scrambling at Stickle Ghyll booked through Lakeland Ascents. It rained most days but that didn't spoil the fun and the hot tub was great for relaxing after a day of activities. Ridgway Lodge was well equipped for a self catering holiday with a good sized fridge and freezer so we only really had to shop once for the whole week (we booked a click and collect Morrisons order from Kendal which worked well for us). Thank you :-)

We enjoyed a great weekend away for my daughters 30th birthday. We were kept informed right from booking to aftercare. The lodge and hot tub were enjoyed by all. Very clean and finishing touches like a birthday card, cant believe they remembered from my first communication. I would definitely recommend and will most certainly use again, god willing. Thank you

Thank you for the excellent review and ratings, Janet. We are so pleased to hear you had a great weekend away for your daughters 30th. Ridgway is a super place to stay. With three bedrooms, a spacious living area, super equipped kitchen, and a hot tub! Perfect. We are delighted everything was just right for you and we hope to welcome you all again soon.

We liked staying at ridgway even though it rained all week. We took board games and dvds for the evening’s but we also went to the onsite pub for tea which served a very nice selection of food (including vegetarian). The pizza’s there were home made i think or looked and tasted it anyway. We spent a morning in the rain in Brockholes going on the tree top nets and the kids loved it so i would recommend. Brockholes is a 2 minute drive down the road from white cross bay. You could walk it but it was raining so we didnt and the only thing is of you drive you do have to pay for the car park too. The cafe in Brockholes was lovely that we went back another morning just for breakfast (Avacado and poached eggs on sourdough). We drove about 15-20 mins to Ambleside to a gorgeous pub with a real fire (which was great as we were all soaking wet from the rain) called the Drunken Duck and the food there was the best we have tasted, although pricey, it was worth it! The lodge itself was nice and modern. We went out a lot and also ate out so didnt use the cooking facilities. The kettle i noticed has that grime that builds up inside though so it needs those cleaning tablets tonget rid of it. Put me off my cup of tea anyway. The windows all had spots of mould on which just could of been wiped by the cleaners but hadn't. The only other negative thing was the two single chairs in the lodge had broken legs so they were more of a decoration and we obviously didn't use them. This was ok for us as we were a family of four but if there are 6 of you then you would miss these chairs. I did report it so hopefully they will replace them. The hot tub was nice. The kids loved it! It was too cold and rainy for us to get in though!

Thank you for writing a review of your recent stay at Ridgway. We were pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay and days out despite the wet weather. Thank you for letting us know about a few minor things you found at the lodge and these have all been addressed. One of the chairs you said was broken only had a loose leg which simply needed turning to tighten. It is unusual to get any comments about the cleanliness and we have spoken with the cleaners who prepare the lodge. Ridgway is a lovely spacious and very popular lodge enjoyed by all guests who stay there. Not forgetting the outside hot tub in which to relax!
