“Generally speaking our stay was very nice.”

The lodge was lovely, clean and comfortable. The fireplace was really nice to have. The camp was quiet enough most nights. The location was great being so close to Windermere. The forest surroundings and lake front were nice to be right next to during the day. A welcome booklet would have been nice so we could familiarise ourselves with what's available in the lodge and in the park. The supplied kitchen cooking equipment could do with an update. The trees surrounding the lodge are quite loud ...

The trees surrounding the lodge are quite loud with owls and other birds scrapping at night. If it rains or the wind blows you'll find the roof of the lodge quite thin and noisy as we did. The dog smell in the living area was a little bit of a let down but to be fair I booked a lodge that is pet friendly so I wasn't surprised by it. What I was surprised by is a dirty sock, used lighter and various other bits of trash hiding between the couch cushions and underneath. I'd suggest just asking the cleaners to pull it out once in a while to tidy up. The park's bar, restaurant and swimming facilities were probably the biggest let down. Not enough staff, poor quality food, lots of insects stuck inside the restaurant and the pool. The arcade and shop were ok. Another thing I suppose not the fault of the lodge or the park but something to be aware of is that the local taxis appear really understaffed. Especially on Sunday. So I wouldn't plan to rely on them.
