2 Sisters Café, near Kendal

There are two 2 Sisters Cafes! One in Kendal town centre, and one on the A591.  They are both a great place to head to if you enjoy local produce, served with a bit of european pazazz; and want somewhere to meet with family and friends.  It’s owned and managed by … the 2 Sisters! Monika and Magda.

You’ll find the 2 Sisters next to the Plumgarths Farm Shop, just at the bottom of the A591 bypass outside Kendal, as you head towards Windermere. It’s also right next door to Lakeland Radio – which you can hear in the background as you are enjoying your food!  The one in the town centre is right on the High Street, next to Westmorland Shopping Centre.

The 2 Sisters love cooking, baking and inventing new recipes, with lots of scrumptious treats available, and great coffee.  Its a lovely, modern space with tables and sofas to sit on.  They are also right next to Plumgarth’s Farm Shop where you can pick up some of Plumgarth’s fabulous local produce – with a proper butchery counter, serving  meat; sausages, cheeses, pickles and jams, or bakery selections.

Simply Breakfast (9am-midday)

Plumgarth’s bacon, sausages, tomato, mushroom, baked beans and fried egg served with toast or breakfast artisan roll, packed with Plumgarth’s bacon, sausages and/or egg.

Simply Lunches, Soups and Snacks

A wide selection of artisan rolls with simply scrumptious fillings, hot paninis, quiche with tasty salad, special savoury pancakes, smooth chicken liver, contreau & orange paté, 2 sisters 2 beans chicken chilli

Simply Delightful Afternoon Tea (2.30pm-5pm)  Visitors love the place and the afternoon tea:

‘The staff are very friendly, the food is wonderful, atmosphere is calm and relaxed.  As I’m a Vegetarian they were more than happy to make a veggie sandwich selection for me. The staff here are fantastic! The afternoon tea comes to about £9.50, and for that you get tea or coffee, a selection of sandwiches, a huge scone with jam/clotted cream and finally your choice of cake – portions are all very generous’

Hints/Tips – you can just turn up but it does get busy in school holidays and peak times. You can book if you don’t want to take the risk.

Why we like it:  Who doesn’t love yummy cakes and home made everything!  It’s a great place to pop into and meet friends and there’s a free car park on site.
