Brant Fell Summit

Brant Fell is an easy short walk from the centre of Bowness giving lovely views right up the Lake.

Route Summary:

Distance: 2.1 Miles, Easy, mix of road and soft footpaths. Includes stiles and some dog obstacles.

An easy walk to a fine viewpoint from Bowness on Windermere.

Start and Finish: Bowness on Windermere centre.

The walk starts in the centre of Bowness, at the mini-roundabout right in the middle: you can’t miss it.

Climb steeply along Brantfell Road along the Dales Way, turning off after a few hundred metres, you’ll visit the little viewpoint of Post Knott before turning your back on the views to finish climbing to the top of Brant Fell itself.

At the summit are large outcrops of rock, and lovely views across the Lake.

To return you simply narrowly avoid the outward path and descend back to the shops along Helm Road.

You can do the walk in an hour, but we suggest you allow a couple of hours so as not to hurry on this walk and sit and enjoy the view at the top.

Head back to Bowness and slake your thirst at one of the many welcoming hostelries or cafes!
