It is now home to Lucy Cavendish and her husband Tor McLaren. On a recent visit we were lucky enough to bump into Lucy who was both warm and hospitable.

There are a number of rooms to visit from the stately main hall and billiard room to the impressive library which contains some 3,500 beautifully bound old books. The striking oak staircase takes you to the bedrooms. One of which is named after Queen Mary from when she stayed at Holker Hall in 1937. There are a number of welcoming and knowledgeable staff on standby who are happy to share the hall’s history and stories. As the house is still used by the family you can wander without restriction as no areas are roped off.
