We stayed at Fir Tree Lodge in White Cross Bay for the week of Christmas. Deposits this supposedly being a busy time we found the park to be quiet and peaceful which was perfect. The park staff were friendly, inviting and helpful and the park is well maintained and conveniently located with both the beautiful towns of Windermere and Ambleside both a short drive away with Wray Castle being a worthy visit! The lodge itself was comfortable, cosy and well presented it was clean, well equipped and functional, its location being in the corner ticked an extra box! The only downsides we found with our stay was firstly regarding the park connection, the park has public WiFi for what it says is browsing etc however, throughout the week stay we couldnt connect to the internet on one occasion, it would either not even be as an available network or if it was it wouldnt let us connect to it. I told the park staff but they couldnt help as their solution was to go and sit in the bar / reception area of the main park building but this wasnt an options for us as nor was that in my opinion a remedy, there is also no signal whatsoever on the EE network and so this meant other than when we were out of the park we were completely offline with no signal or access online. Additionally, the master bed mattress needs replacing as it has several dips in it and there was only one toilet roll in the whole lodge. We chose this lodge for its location, facilities including the hot tub and also, the fact it allows dogs so for us this was a perfect Christmas getaway with our dog. The lodge has central heating and warms up in minutes there is also parking for 2 cars and plenty of space and storage. The Lake District is a truly beautiful place and I would recommend a visit, we will be returning again for sure. We have stayed at other lodges in the area, in our opinion White Cross Bay was our favourite and best locates if it wasnt for the WiFi this stay would have been given 5 stars.

First time in a log cabin for me and my partner and we were pleasantly surprised, spacious, tall ceilings and never feeling cramped like in a caravan. On arrival easy to get to with road signs, popped into reception checked in quick and easy and were shown exactly where the lodge was, didnt feel stressed about getting lost. Lodge is in a perfect location as only 2 minute walk to the complex, and 5 minutes down to the lake, perfect! We chose this lodge as it was in a cul de sac and felt it would be more private. Lovely and quiet felt so relaxed the whole time especially with the hot tub ! Only downside was the double bed been broken so a little uncomfortable but wouldnt stop us booking again !
