Not clean enough only top show and considering extra time said required for Covid, it did not meet standards even without Covid. It could be great if it had a deep clean, freshened up and maintained better- blinds all need serious attention , guttering needs repairing as rain pouring, decking needs a very deep clean scrub and sanatising ! Cleaners need supervising as it appears to be only top show cleaned. Very dissapointed considering top prices charged Lake District Lodge boking agents informed.too many points to mention here.

The owners were disappointed that you were not satisfied with a number of matters that presumably you became aware of when you first took possession of the lodge. Accordingly neither we nor the owners had an opportunity to inspect the lodge and address your concerns during your stay. There is not a lot either we nor the owners can do to resolve any issues once you have left the lodge. Valley View is a firm favourite with lodge guests and we and the owners are surprised you left it until you had completed your weeks stay and had left the lodge before you voiced your complaints. Perhaps when you stay with us again you will ensure that in the unlikely event of any issues causing you concern you let us know without delay so that we can ensure something is done about them. With the best will in the world we are not able to solve problems of which we are not aware. Thank you for your review, Denis and we are sorry that you were disappointed with your stay.

I have been on many holidays abroad, but this lodge and it’s surroundings where amazing,it was so quiet and people where very polite, also the staff where so accomadating.Everywhere on this estate was clean and tidy,I wish I had booked for another couple of nights. The lodge we stayed in was very clean and tidy it was home from home.We where travelling back to Edinburgh when I decided to book for next year. ,

The lodge is very clean warm and comfortable, with all the kitchen appliances you would need. We stayed over Christmas, however, and found the half size fridge too small to accommodate all of the food, never mind the fizz! We had to keep our drinks outside on the veranda and then put it in the freezer just before drinking it, which wasn’t ideal but it didn’t spoil things. The lodge had been decorated for Christmas with a beautiful tree and other lovely decorations, which was a nice touch, although new batteries in the numerous candles would help though as only a few of them actually worked, which was a shame as we hadn’t taken any batteries with us. Be very careful on the decking, it is full of leaves and mossy in places and therefore very slippy when wet! A good clean would be useful to remove the moss and build up of leaves, although I appreciate where the lodge is situated and the climate doesn’t help. Be aware that the pub doesn’t serve food from Christmas Eve through to a Boxing Day, although it is open, so don’t plan a meal out on site. We did eat there on our first night (Christmas Eve, Eve) and the food and service were lovely. The Queens head pub which is serving on most days is literally a 10 minute walk over the field from the site, (or along the road but there is no path, so not recommended) but not in the dark, unless you know your way and have suitable footwear on and a good torch! It looks lovely though, so probably worth a visit. We were a party of 5 adults and found the accommodation big enough with ample seating and the beds were fabulously comfortable. The weather was pretty grim when we were there so we didn’t get out much, which was a shame, but I’m sure in the warmer months, the local walks would be a treat! Overall we had a lovely stay.
