“We had an enjoyable week in this most comfortable and well equipped lodge.”

The quiet and peaceful situation enabled us to fully relax and appreciate the surroundings. All bedding, towels etc are of the highest standard and the shower in the ensuite was brilliant. There is a load of crockery and cutlery in the kitchen and plenty of cooking implements. The quiet and peaceful situation enabled us to fully relax and appreciate the surroundings. All bedding, towels etc are of the highest standard and the shower in the ensuite was brilliant. There is a load of crockery and cutlery in the kitchen and plenty of cooking implements. ( Appreciated the china mugs for our tea!!) The weather was mixed but kind enough for us to explore the area and further afield. One afternoon was sunny and warm so we thought we would sit outside (while our son nipped up Latterbarrow ) but found we could not open either of the doors onto the verandah. The internal locking system seems to be jammed. The keys did not grip and turn. We didn’t want to force anything so gave up. We did open the window/door in the dining area to let some air in but that was a struggle as the blind wouldn’t stay up. Apart from those two things, which didn’t really impact on us but might for others as the weather gets better, we found the lodge the best lodge property we have stayed in and would recommend to others and return ourselves. The welcome gift was a lovely idea and we will enjoy it as a pleasant reminder of our stay. Thank you.

Dear Hilary Thank you so much for your positive feedback. We’re delighted you found everything you needed at Thie Loghey and would gladly welcome you back for a return visit. Thank you too for letting us know about the patio doors & blind - we will get onto putting that right as soon as we are able. Kind regards Pete & Elly (owners) Property Owner

Romantic Lakeland cottages, pretty cobbled streets, lovely local shops and cosy Lakeland pubs make for endless days of pottering and exploring the village. The surrounding landscapes are full of leisurely Lake District walking routes.

One of our favourite easier walks is around nearby Tarn Hows.

Grizedale Forest is great for the whole family, with sculpture trails and cycling routes, whilst nearby Esthwaite Water is excellent for fishing.

About the location

HAWKSHEAD

Ambleside 5.1 miles; Kendal 17.4 miles.

The picturesque village of Hawkshead still retains the charm and character that so endeared it to its most famous residents - William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter. Visitors can wander the wealth of tiny alleyways, thoroughfares, archways and courtyards between the whitewashed 17th century houses. There are many pleasant inns, teashops, guest houses and gift shops in the village, as well as the Beatrix Potter Gallery, which houses an annually changing exhibition of the famous author’s illustrations and stories. The other famous Hawkshead enthusiast, William Wordsworth, attended the Old Grammar School in 1779-87, which still stands today, and you can visit the building where the Lakeland poet developed his love of the form, and even see the desk into which he scratched his name as a small boy! Newby Bridge is ten miles away and offers attractions such as the Aquarium of the Lakes and Windermere Lake Cruises, sailing daily between Ambleside, Bowness and Lakeside. With stunning scenery and numerous attractions within easy touring distance, Hawkshead is in an ideal location at any time of the year.
