If you’re feeling ambitious, the loop around the lake is around 10 miles, with a handful of charming pubs to stop off for lunch in along the way!
You can also pack a picnic, skim stones by the shores and don’t forget to soak up the incredible views of the surrounding countryside.
Derwent Pencil Museum makes for a fun family morning, where you explore the fascinating journey of graphite, then continue the creativity at your holiday cottage in the afternoon with some of the colourful pencils from the gift shop.
The small museum and coffee shop stays open from March up until November.
