Keswick is a vibrant market town in the northern Lake District
The nearby lake of Derwentwater offers regular cruises, boat hire and adventure activities for all ages.
The walking in and around Keswick is fantastic, with a great variety of different grades right from your doorstep. Head up to Latrigg for viewpoints over the town, explore the mystical Castlerigg Stone Circle, or tackle the summit of Skiddaw that towers above the town. Cat Bells, Coledale Horseshoe and Blencathra are all nearby. Explore breathtaking Borrowdale or the iconic Ashness Bridge and Surprise View near the lovely hamlet of Watendlath.
You can also head underground and explore the Honister Slate Mines or for the adventurous, challenge yourself on the Via Ferrata. Perhaps a day mountain biking in Whinlatter Forest is more your thing?
Keswick itself has a fine selection of pubs, cafes, shops and the central Market Square is pedestrianised with a regular local market. There’s also the Theatre by The Lake which runs a year-long programme of drama and events, right next to the lake.
With so many options, you’ll need plenty of time to do them all!
